4th Impact's New Ballad is a Dream Come True

Updated: Sep 22, 2022

The Queens of P-Pop are back with the ballad we’ve all been dreaming of. It’s hardly been 4 months since the release of their first comeback single, ‘Here We Go,’ and we are still reeling from the power of that music video. Now, 4th Impact just dropped their second comeback single, ‘Tapat Sa’yo (Faithfully Yours),’ and we are obsessed with the vocal queens. We didn’t know we needed this comeback, but now that we have it? We might never get enough.

An OST-Worthy Ballad

It’s classic, timeless, and breathtaking, just like the women singing.

From the first notes of the delicate, piano-rich melody, ‘Tapat Sa’yo,’ we are entranced by the vibe of this composition by Oh Won Lee, Han Seungtaek, and ROZ. They’ve given us the ballad we didn’t know we needed. In the classic hugot style, the music reaches down to the deepest emotions and brings them to the surface. Combined with the Broadway and orchestral feels in the instrumental swells, we feel 4th Impact has found their signature sound. It’s classic, timeless, and breathtaking, just like the women singing.

The Cercado sisters’ vocals are on another level altogether. We all know that they have unreal voices capable of the most amazing belts and runs, but they’ve stepped away from that signature style in this number. Powerful but delicate, the vocals in ‘Tapat Sa’yo’ keep the sisters at the top of their ranges throughout. Between rapper Celina’s surprisingly delicate opening, Irene’s unexpected lower-register voice, Mylene’s pitch-perfect harmonies, and Almira’s show-stealing vocal runs, their voices mix beautifully. It reminds us of the OST of a Kdrama. You know, that part when something sad happens? That’s the vibe that we are getting here.

Visualizer or Music Video?

Of course, 4th Impact’s always been more than just jaw-dropping image and voice.

Billed as a visualizer, the video for ‘Tapat Sa’yo’ reads more like a simple and elegant music video. Filmed in a stunning mansion, the video features individual shots of the sisters in casual outfits (obviously reminiscing about the best times with their loves) and stunning gowns that are delicate and elegant. Their new hairstyles are unreal, from Almira’s new wavy bob to Mylene’s stunning silver locks. We loved Irene’s new long, auburn hair – it’s a look we hope she holds onto. Celina sticks with the long, dark hair she sported in ‘Here We Go,’ and there’s nothing wrong with that – it’s a fantastic look on her.

Of course, 4th Impact’s always been more than just jaw-dropping image and voice. This time, the lyrics of 'Tapat Sa’yo' take center stage. The second song written by the sisters speaks of promises broken and the acceptance of a shattered relationship. In a sense, they’re picking up the pieces and sending them back in a quietly elegant package - with all the best wishes attached, of course. They’re moving on to something better, waving a quick goodbye to the past, and it’s equal parts sad and hopeful.

The Cercado Sisters' Best Era

Though ‘Tapat Sa’yo’ might be about an ending, it feels like a far cry from the end of 4th Impact’s current era.

With this single, 4th Impact is proving that their musical journey is far from over. They’ve proven time and time again in competitions and cover songs that they are endlessly versatile. Now, they are proving it with their original music. Though ‘Tapat Sa’yo’ might be about an ending, it feels like a far cry from the end of 4th Impact’s current era. We look forward to them continuing to break stereotypes and cross new horizons in music and their career. The spotlight is on the Cercado sisters - which is where it belongs.

Great article. They truly are and have been the voice of their generation and other generations before them. They can sing anything and as their arranger Mylene always gives it their style and sound. Plus they are such a sweet group of people. They always pray before and after each performance. Their faith is very strong and they always put so much feeling and emotion into their songs. May God always be with you girls.❤️
